Fancy cannoli from Eataly Flatiron.
What we liked: The shell was super crispy and filled fresh on the spot. We got to pick from a variety of available fillings and went with the classic cow’s milk ricotta. We also got to pick a topping and went with “70% dark chocolate” chips.
What could be better: The filling was soupy and barely sweetened. Perhaps the lack of sweetness was closer to an authentic Italian cannoli, but we prefer a bit sweeter 😋. The cannoli was heavily dusted with powdered sugar and cocoa powder and the chocolate chips we asked for were mostly sprinkled around the box and not on the cannoli. It was kind of pretty but kind of impractical. Ultimately the upscale experience didn’t translate to taste.
