After a long hiatus, we’re back with a review of this excellent cannoli from Gino’s Pastry Shop in the Bronx.
What we liked: This was amongst the best cannolis we’ve had. The shell was addictively crunchy and the filling was perfectly sturdy and sweet with a hint of cinnamon. The shop was super old school. The owner filled the cannoli right in front of us and let us choose how to dip the ends. We couldn’t decide between chocolate chips and pistachio, so we did both.
What could be better: I like when the filling has a few chocolate chips throughout, but this filling was just straight cannoli cream. Also perhaps they could have filled the ends a bit more generously? The cannoli felt slightly small overall, or maybe I just wanted more because it was so good.
